Signature Events

 

Throughout the year, the Office for Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement hosts a variety of events that contributes to an environment that promotes cultural competency, inclusion, and social justice. The office welcomes students, faculty, staff and alumni to explore, learn, embrace and share diverse identities and communities through our signature programs. 

Signature programs reflect our commitment to a campus climate that celebrates diversity and inclusion. Signature events provide great opportunities for students to apply the lessons learned in cultural history and heritage events whose focus is identity development, cultural curiosity, interest and affinity. All events are open to the entire university community encouraging interaction, dialogue and inter-group communication. 

Signature Events include the 9/11 Interfaith Vigil, Institute for Citizen Leaders, Interfaith Baccalaureate, King Week, Latino Leader Awards, MLK Awards, MSSC Block Party, MSSC Graduation Celebration, MSSC Thanksgiving Dinner, and National Coming Out Day, Welcome Day of Service, Diversity Summit, and the Race in America Lecture Series.
