Education & Learning Opportunities

The Office for Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement (ODECE) offers educational and learning opportunities for students, staff, and faculty members at the George Washington University.  As an institution of higher education commited to fostering the strongest global leaders, our students, staff, and faculty must be intentional in cultivating the healthiest, safest, and most inclusive campus climate at GW.  We recognize that it is our responsibility to create and provide the space for individuals to learn, engage in critical and meaningful dialogue, and feel challenged in positive ways.  It is our commitment to foster a campus environment that invites students, staff, and faculty to be their authentic selves and build their awareness, skills, and competencies to fully participate and contribute meaningfully on our campus, nationally, and on a global level.

The Director of Diversity & Inclusion Education works collaboratively with campus partners to establish measurable learning outcomes, customized curriculum, and strategic planning for short term and long term learning opportunities.  Assessing learning is a priority and a learning rubric is established in order to capture the learning of each participant in each engagement.  The Director of Diversity & Inclusion Education works with the Office of Disability Support Services, Multicultural Student Services Center, Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service, and Title IX, to provide consultation, resources, and support to advance and sustain inclusive environments for our students, staff, and faculty across the university.
