Be an SJT Scholar

A World of Opportunity Awaits D.C. High School Students

The George Washington University’s Stephen Joel Trachtenberg (SJT) Scholarship program, founded in 1989, provides academically talented D.C. high school seniors with a full, four-year scholarship covering tuition, room and board, books and fees at the university. Each year, up to 10 graduating seniors from high schools in the District of Columbia are selected for the Stephen Joel Trachtenberg (SJT) Scholarship. Students are selected based on their standardized test scores, community service, leadership and extracurricular activities, grade point average, high school course selection, class rank and teacher recommendation. The scholars come from a range of public, charter, private and parochial schools, and represent all eight wards in D.C.

Students must apply to GW and be nominated by their high school counselor. Finalists will be interviewed, and recipients will be notified of this award during a special recognition event in early spring. For more information, please visit the SJT Scholarship page.
