Scholar Spotlight: Daniel Nguyen
Daniel, along with two other GW students (Panisara Pummalee (GWSB MSIST '20), Lenon Adam (GWSB MTA '20), were winners of the 2020 GW New Venture Compeition. Their Venture, Rice Wrap is a biodegradable food packaging used for sealing food in containers to keep them fresh and secure.
Their venture won Fosun Best International Prize ($10,000), Quinn Prize for International and Social Venture ($7,500), Most Innovative Food & Beverage Industry Prize ($5,000), and Runner Up Prize ($5,000).
Scholar Highlight: Adel Hassen
Scholar Adel Hassen was selected for the highly-prestigous 2020-2022 Presidential Fellowship Cohort, along with two other graduating seniors. The Presidential Fellowships offers, "high-achieving seniors the opportunity for professional development and a master’s degree at GW."
As written in GW Today, "during the two-year program, fellows actively engage in community service and act as ambassadors at university events while developing relationships with the GW and D.C. communities. Presidential Fellows also gain professional experience through administrative placements in departments and schools across the university as well as other professional and personal development activities."

Scholar Highlight: Ramani Wilson
Congratulations to Scholar Ramani Wilson who was selected as an awardee for the Young Women's Initiative's 2020 Rock Star Fund. The Rock Star Fund provides young women of color between the ages of 12 and 24 living in DC with up to $2,000 to invest in their own learning, leadership, ideas, and community projects. Ramani will provide training and education for young women of color to learn to recognize abusive relationships in their lives. To learn more about the Rock Star Fund click here.

Our very own Michael Degaga was featured in the GW Today article titled "New Faces at GW"! Read the full article here. “I’m really enjoying being an engineering student at GW because there’s a great community within the department.” Mr. Degaga also is part of the Ethiopian Eritrean Students Association. The student affinity group is not Mr. Degaga’s only cultural touchstone; he is still able to see his family weekly.
